We are looking for experienced carpenters for a number of long term assignments across the Wellington Region.
Job Overview:
We are looking for experienced carpenters with skills in formwork, structural framing, and finishing carpentry for ongoing residential and commercial projects. The ideal candidate will be capable of working across all phases of construction, from structural setup to high-quality interior finishes, ensuring compliance with NZ Building Code and health & safety regulations.
Formwork Carpentry:
- Construct and dismantle formwork and falsework for concrete structures (e.g. foundations, walls, columns, slabs)
- Measure, cut, and assemble timber or modular formwork systems (e.g. PERI, Doka)
- Place and secure reinforcement bars (rebar) as required
- Ensure correct levels, alignment, and bracing before concrete pour
Framing Carpentry:
- Erect timber or steel wall frames, floor systems, and roof trusses
- Read and interpret structural plans and ensure accuracy of layout
- Install bracing, nogs, and subfloor components to code
- Use nail guns, saws, and laser levels accurately and safely
Finishing Carpentry:
- Install external cladding, including cedar cladding and weatherboards, with attention to alignment, detailing, and weatherproofing
- Fit out doors, skirtings, architraves, cabinetry, and other interior trim work to high finish standards
- Install hardware such as locks, handles, hinges, and shelving
- Perform sanding, sealing, and surface preparation for painting or staining
- Deliver clean, precise finishes with a strong focus on craftsmanship and attention to detail
Skills & Experience:
- Minimum 3 years of proven experience in formwork, framing, and finishing carpentry
- Strong understanding of NZ Building Code and construction best practices
- Skilled in using a wide range of power tools and hand tools
- Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural drawings
- Physically fit and comfortable working at heights or in various weather conditions
- Able to work independently or as part of a team
